May 2015, Australasia Scales supplied and installed a 20m x 3.5m weighbridge for Environmental Waste Services Queensland. During initial weighbridge site investigation a large granite boulder was found that would have obstructed the weighbridge foundation footing at one end. As the boulder was too large to remove completely, it was eventually cut down as to ensure footing was not founded directly on the boulder – this is to minimise the effect of differential settlement of prevailing uncontrolled fill which could cause performance issues with the weighbridge and potential structural damage to the concrete foundations. A light stiffened raft foundation re-design was also required
due to Class ‘H1’ highly reactive soil conditions.
Australasia Scales also supplied an iWEIGH weighbridge and touchscreen ticketing software package for simplified operation onsite.
